You have recently been celebrating the year anniversary of 'Horizons' too- how did it feel playing that era on a completely different scale to when it was written? They shared club show and festival bills with Architects as Searle went in and out of treatment, and were in the middle of a European festival run in August when they received news of his death. So when I was listening back to this I understood why people really liked it. We wanted to do something different. How has it been for you adapting to such a different style? Once I turned 30 my I noticed my body stopped healing the same, and we all started having to take care of ourselves. This is the only time in our career when I would be able to do this. As soon as we start playing songs live I stop listening to the record.

    Well known for brutal breakdowns, Parkway Drive kept the security guards busy as fans started to crowd surf and make their way to the front of the stage. In fact, McCall acted as a conductor half the time, and the fans were his orchestra pit. He used the microphone as his baton.
    My delivery used to be throat ripping screams, deeper throat ripping screams and high throat ripping screams.

    It was breaking our old walls down and forging something new out of it for us. We want it to be like the time this song finishes we then want to take the audience here.

    We started the band by creating something that was interesting and new for us, and it started out as adrenaline because we were young. The band kept on touring, subbing in replacement players as needed.

    As soon as we start playing songs live I stop listening to the record. This is the only time in our career when I would be able to do this.

    Reverence does have double-kicks and breakdowns, but its best and most intense songs are the ones with strings, synths, choral vocals and acoustic guitars.

    It was dark. It helped with the writing of the music as well because all of a sudden I could contribute to this in ways that I never have before.

We dealt with it and got through it though but it just continued. We did it because we knew how much that record meant to people and it would be fun for us to do something different.
